Tips for Mal's Users

I just set up my site cart and struggled through various documentation for 2 hours. Here are a few tips:

1) Mal's free version does NOT directly process credit cards. When set up with White Oak Books they allow you two options. The first option allows you to ask for credit card information via Mal's cart. It then store the customer's credit card information and allows you to access it securely by logging into Mal's. Then you can run the information through your merchant credit card account or online credit card processor. I use Propay for an online credit card processor. They accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express for a $39.99 annual fee. I cut and paste the card information from Mal's to Propay. A little time consuming but I do not get many orders via my web site.

2) Mal's free version also allows you to set up payments via Paypal or Google Cart. Since White Oak does NOT recommend Paypal through Mal's I checked the Do Not Offer Paypal box in Mal's cart setup. I already had a Google Checkout account so I added that to the Mal's free options.

So...now my customers can use Paypal, Google Cart or simply enter their own credit card information. Interestingly, most of my customers choose to enter their card information instead of using Paypal or Google Checkout.

The ProPay link is: www.propay.com, Google Checkout is: checkout.google.com

Hope this helps.
