I started getting notices a few days ago that I have exceeded the 1GB resource usage.
Over 870M in the BookImages directory, many of which are no longer in inventory.

Is there some way to clean this up other than manually comparing filenames to current inventory and deleting them one at a time?

Note that this is a small problem for me with under 2,000 items in inventory, but having had the site for several years the old stuff accumulates.
I can imagine that site owners with larger inventories and higher turnover would be hard pressed to keep up with this issue.

I'll try to come up with some way to clean it up. Do you do it by SKU or ISBN? Can I delete everything that is not in your active inventory from the bookimages directory?

My images are indexed by SKU.
Yes, you can delete everything that is not tied to active inventory.

Andy,
I have local copies of images for all current inventory, so I'm doing a manual cleanup by deleting groups of SKUs and re-uploading. This should relieve the resource limi for now. But, you might consider implementing some kind of automated cleanup when you get a chance.

Andy, I'm getting these messages again about resource usage.

I did a bit of manual cleanup to reduce total size by maybe 20 or 30 meg, but I really don't have time to go through this manual deletion process every 6 months or so, it's painful. My bookimages directory is now at 7199 files, just over 900 MB.

Is there a way you can automatically delete images for any SKU that no longer exists?
... as was discussed 8 months ago.
