Hello,

Does anyone have recommendations for integrating a blog into the website. I've used blogger and wordpress before, but I'd prefer something simple that was integrated into my site and its style. I understand wordpress can be configured to look like my site, but it seemed to me that there ought to be a simpler way. I briefly tried to install cutenews, then realized I should first ask for recommendations. Any ideas?

Hi,

A quick follow-up....I have been reading and talking to friends about my options and I think I might like to try to use wordpress, but I can't seem to get it to install on my site. I tried walking through the 5-minute installation, but couldn't get it to install. I think I'll upload the files to a blog directory and then perhaps Andy can advise me.

I agree with wordpress. Most of the quick, easy to install blogs are iframes. That means while they are easy to install the content is considered on their domain... not yours.

I can help you to install wordpress or even do it for you for a $20.00 fee. However I'm at Disneyland the next few days and only have access to a computer in the evenings. ( I have email during the day )

I'll create the database for you and send you brief instructions in a private message if you want to try again tomorrow.

I forgot to mention that I charge $3/month for the database. I'll waive that fee for the 1st quarter and then you can decide if you want to keep the blog or not. ( Ignore the bill you will receive in email )

That's very nice of you. I appreciate the chance to try it out. I'll give a shot at the installation now that you've got it started. Enjoy your vacation. Ray

Hi Andy,

I haven't gotten very far with wordpress, but I have at least starting posting more on tumblr and managed to connect my tumblr blog to blog.roundaboutbookstore.com. I was wondering how I can add a navigation button for Blog, the way we have for other user pages such as About, Directions, Cart, etc. Is there a way I can do that, so that my blogging can be accessed with a button. It is OK with me if it still opens in a new window, etc. and doesn't have the same design as the rest of the website; I'd just like people to be able to easily navigate to it.

Thanks, as always!
Raymond

Go to 'User Pages & Menus' => 'Add & Configure User Pages'

On the bottom left add a page name and click the 'Add New Page' button

Click the 'Edit General Page Settings' button

Configure the link name and the menu settings...

Then down towards the bottom is: 'Non WOB WebPage Link:'

Add the full URL to the blog.

Save it and Copy Changes to Live Website and when you click that link it should go to the blog
