Andy,

The quote from Google's developers site says: "If no preview can be found for the specified book(s), the preview or button will be automatically disabled and nothing will appear."

I know this is correct, because the first book I tried it on didn't have a preview in Google Books database (and I didn't know enough to check first), so I thought it wasn't working when it was actually doing what it was supposed to. Amazingly simple and a very small snippet of code, compared to what they used to use which required two pieces of code, including one to be placed in the header. They've come a long way.

Steve

Good news.  And it doesn't look like you had to have a Google API account either.

I should be able to add it.

I'm adding a lot of this stuff in my new software but the rewrite is going slow so I'll add any easy features to the current version.

I'd like to get better cover support ( other then Amazon )  OpenLibrary.org is getting better.  They'll allow me to download the images to my server which I'll start doing in the new software.

I don't know if the goodreads TOS allows that.  1 per second is to slow for the website to do automatically.

I've added the google preview.  It is in release 4.12.02.  I've uploaded it to both of your websites.

You enable it in 'General Settings' => 'Inventory Items Display Properties'

Tim... it is already possible to add the AOB description to the comments.

Go to 'Inventory' => 'Inventory Venue Specific Settings'  (at the very bottom)

Thanks Andy,

This is great! Seems to be working fine. I'll continue to check it out. Lots of books aren't don't show up, which probably explains why the had 3 different fields for ISBNs on the developer site, since so many books have been published using different ISBNs for different editions, and Google Books hasn't tied them all together yet. Nothing you can do about that. A nice feature added in record time!

Thanks again,

Steve

Thanks Andy!
The Google Previews look great on our site and add value to your product.
Thanks for adding them so quickly.
I found the link too for appending the AoB Description to item notes.
FYI: AoB now offers 10 Private fields; P0 through P9.
I am curious as to how other sellers use those fields to add information to the inventory database you use.
I am also curious as to why you offer two image url fields. Which takes precedence and does either contain the image path from AoB?
Thanks again,
Tim

PS Looking forward to seeing Goodreads reviews next!

This is a great feature, which I have wanted for some time, but didn't realize WOB was working on. I have enabled the settings you mentioned here. What needs to happen with a listing to allow customers to see the Google preview? Is it simply connected to listings based on ISBN automatically? Or, does it require some data entry for each book, as you alluded to in your earlier posts on this topic?

If you enable it like I mentioned a few posts up it should be automatic.
