I have been at Chrislands not even a month, dislike it, not happy.

I have an Amazon seller's, account does that mean I can pull in book images and info?
And if yes, does amazon get a cut if I sell something on this site because I use their info?

I use Anthology for my inventory and have an account with Books in Print to fetch info for my Anthology program is any of that usable in here (doubtful just thought I'd ask)

The credit card merchant thing you offer here, does every single book listed need that button, or is there a single button when they go to pay, and can you use your own visa or master card merchant or only that one?

And if its a button with every book, is there an easy way to populate the inventory if you upload it, and how often can we upload, do you have a limit?

If I use Something like Dreamweaver to build my pages, can we use css and all that?

OK think that's it, thanks!

Cheryl

What didn't you like about Chrislands.  To a certain degree we provide the same service.

If you link the website to Amazon it will pull the book info from Amazon.  If they click the 'buy from amazon' button it will take them to the listing on your Amazon storefront and if they buy there it will be like any other Amazon sale.

If they pay through Paypal or Mals the sale will not be connected with Amazon at all.

If Anthology can create UIEE files ( the standard book transfer method ) then the website can use it.  In fact we can use just about any export they produce.

All that is handled automatically.  If enabled... Mals ( for credit cards and Google ) and paypal will be available as payment methods in the shopping cart.

You can't use dreamweaver to modify the store pages.  We basically provide templates and a web based editor that allows you to modify the look & feel of the website.

You can take a look at the admin section of the demo to see how it works.  You can also see how the cart works:

I do provide methods that allow you to override most ( all ) of the CSS on my pages if you are knowledgable in that area.  And you can add pages/sub domains complete outside of the store.

This is a good example of someone that did that:

There are no forums like this one, no real FAQ or instructions or useful help pages. All the info on your site is step by step. I've been building websites since AOL was launched, worked in eCommerce and a newspaper website. I'm not inexperienced. There was zero useful information on the site. This weekend I could not upload to my site, that's two days wasted for me. I could not even send a support ticket. I did email and still have not received a response *shrug*

Sometimes experienced web designers have a hard time with my service because like Chrislands you are having to work in the confines of my templates.

However, at the request of some designers I cleaned up my class and id names and put them on every DIV on the page and allowed the CSS to be enhanced or completely overridden.

The documentation is a little sketchy on it.

I'm also willing to make reasonable changes that allow the websites to be customized.

I don't want to do anything crazy, I don't want to waste my time playing with code, I have other stuff to do.
I was annoyed at Chrislands because I needed to know how things worked so I could do my stuff but there is no documentation about how they do things, they just want you to request they do it. You have step by step here, I like that. I need to know how it works to be comfortable. My site is still not working over there and I have not heard back from them yet!
