Hi Andy --

It would be very helpful to have the entire BSIG category list < http://www.bisg.org/what-we-do-0-136-bisac-subject-headings-list-major-subjects.php > used on the websites.

I would be willing to assemble and encode this for use if you would be willing to add this feature to replace the existing category list.

Amazon, abe, etc., use BSIG to categorize their books.

Please advise.

I would love to switch to a better category system.  Amazon categories are poor because they put a book in multiple categories ( some don't make sense ), have a ton of mistakes, and bookseller books tend not to have categories.

I've never seen a list of ISBNs with BSIG category which is what I require.  If you have access to one I am interested.

Andy

Amazon listings have BSIG categories at the bottom of each book product listing, but as you said, they are often multiples. If you have access to those, it might be the easiest way to go albeit not perfect.

I have not seen an ISBN/BSIG list anywhere and I would think that would be really hard to maintain unless it is a service.

Let me look around and see what I may find.

More later.

I was not able to locate a service which would provide the BSIG categories along with the ISBN and upon reflection it would probably be impossible to maintain given the rate at which new items are added

Is there a possibility of setting my site to automatically use the Amazon categories for each item? I do not list anything not also on Amazon.

Hi Andy --

AOB is going to try to do categories as part of their service, so best to see what they do. Apparently, they are now able to pick up a lot more information as the new system gets activated. I will be in the loop on the project.
